Abstract

An experimental campaign was conducted to investigate the vulnerabilities of ceramic tile roofing assembles to ignition under to a controlled firebrand attack using the NIST Firebrand Generator. The results of a parametric study on the ignition propensity of ceramic tile roofing assemblies under a firebrand attack using the Firebrand Generator installed inside the Fire Research Wind Tunnel Facility (FRWTF) at the Building Research Institute in Tsukuba, Japan is presented. Over the range of parameters considered, ceramic tile roofing assemblies were found to be vulnerable to ignition during a firebrand attack.
