Abstract: A transcript of a talk on the application of mathematics to materials science is presented. The talk considers the application of random walk methods to solving boundary value problems with complex boundaries, as found in applications to polymer and filler solution properties. Suggestions for improving the effectiveness of collaborations between mathematicians and physical scientists are also made.
