Abstract

Various authors have recognized the power of multiple small-angle neutron scattering (MSANS) analysis in providing information on coarse, concentrated microstructures involving micrometer length-scales larger than are accessible in conventional small-angle scattering studies. Following previous work that considered spherical scatterers and, later, randomly-oriented spheroidal scatterers, we describe a MSANS analysis for nonrandomly-oriented spheroids. We illustrate this with studies of the multicomponent void morphologies encountered in plasma-spray ceramic thermal barrier coatings.
