|Title:||An Introduction to IPsec (Internet Protocol Security)|
|Published:||March 30, 2001|
|Abstract:||IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) is an attempt to utilize cryptographic techniques in a global solution to the problem of Internet security. Rather than requiring each email program or Web browser to implement its own security mechanisms, IPsec involves a change to the underlying networking facilities that are used by every application. It also allows network managers to apply protection to network traffic without involving the end users. This security bulletin discusses the types of protection provided by IPsec, its major components, current uses, and future potential.|
