Test Suite Review Process

Test Development for Voting Systems

All VVSG test suites developed by NIST for the VVSG will undergo several levels of review. The reviews consist of at least one internal review initially and several subsequent external reviews by subject matter experts and ultimately the public. Reviews can be repeated prior to progressing to the next level of review and test suites can be returned to a prior level for review (e.g., after an internal review the test suite is modified and the review process restarted with a second internal review). Upon completion of internal reviews by NIST and external reviews by subject matter experts including the Voting System Test Laboratories (VSTL), the Election Assistance Commission (EAC), and the EAC's Technical Guidelines Development Committee (TGDC) the test suites will be posted for public review and comment.
