Community Resilience Implementation Guidelines
The Community Resilience Implementation Guidelines are intended to promote best practices to help communities develop their own disaster resilience plan. Given the broad scope of disaster resilience, the Guidelines will initially focus on critical buildings and infrastructure, given the importance of these facilities to response and recovery following a disruptive event. As resources become available, NIST will expand its program to include guidance for all building types. These guidelines will be one of the main products of the Community Resilience Panel.
The document will identify existing standards and codes that can be used to implement guidelines and will provide guidance on how to apply existing tools to enhance community disaster resilience. The Guidelines are intended to accelerate community resilience planning and will include available metrics and language that will enable rapid inclusion in model codes and standards at the state and local levels.
