Ms. Priya Lavappa joined the Applied Economic Office (AEO) in the NIST, Engineering Laboratory in January 2005 as a Information Technology Specialist. Her expertise is in the area of life-cycle development of multi-tiered decision support software applications and web applications. She leads the software development initiatives of the AEO and during her employment at NIST has developed unique software applications utilizing economic models produced by the AEO.
Prior to joining NIST, Ms. Lavappa worked in the creation of various commercial business software applications. She has served as a technical consultant on several software development projects.
Some of the recent software applications Ms. Lavappa has developed include: Building Industry Reporting and Design for Sustainability (BIRD) a web application which allows users to compare the sustainability performance of a residential or commercial building as the energy efficiency design of that building type is increased; Building for Environmental and Economic Sustainability (BEES) online is a web application that implements a powerful technique for selection cost-effective, and environmentally-preferable building products.
