The Group facilitates the design, manufacture, procurement, and application of electronic assemblies for the electronic interconnection (Printed Circuit Assembly) and semiconductor industries. The Group works with industry to enable the infrastructure needed to support electronic commerce for both electronic components and manufacturing from design all the way through production. The Group is also responsible for all security related issues for the laboratory and helps with automation of routine tasks.
- Actively contribute to the technical development of neutral product data exchange specifications and component information infrastructure for the electronics industry and provide an impartial forum to resolve conflicts among competing and conflicting standardization efforts within the industry.
- Work with industry, academia, and other government laboratories to develop programs to promote the transfer of technical information and computer models between the manufacturers of electronic parts and those who require parts for the design, manufacture, and repair of electronic systems.
- To eliminate paper-intensive and manual operations by automating tasks, decreasing the administrative requirements of the technical and support staff, increasing responsiveness to customers, and implementing a secure eNIST paperless environment, and ensure compliance with Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements.
