ROBERT
T. (Bob) WILLIAMS

Starting in 1966, Bob entered the Machinist Apprentice Program. His first assignment, after graduating in November 1970, was an Engine Lathe Operator position in the tool room of East Peoria. Bob remained there until April 1972, when he became a Work Standards Analyst in the Gear Factory. In 1973, he entered the management ranks as a Training Instructor in East Peoria Education & Training. After serving as a Training Instructor and Training Shop Foreman, he became an Operations Supervisor in the engine business. For the next 2-1/2 years, he served in this capacity until his return to Education & Training as a General Supervisor. From there, Bob went on to Gear Shop General Foreman, where he remained until he became Planning Supervisor in the Gear Factory and Large Structural Fabrication Facility in East Peoria. In 1988, he became Planning Superintendent in the Asset Management Group of Manufacturing General Offices before moving to a Factory Engineering Manager position in Building LL/NN. He later became the Factory Manager of the same. In 1992, he became a Commodity Manager with responsibility for Track Roller Frames.
In 1993, Bob transferred to Decatur where he became the Technical Resource Manager for the Mining & Construction Equipment Division. Returning to the Peoria area in 1998, he became the General Manager for the Cast Metals Organization. In 2002, he became the Director of Manufacturing R&D for the Technical Services Division.
In December 2004, Bob was elected to Vice President of Caterpillar Inc. with responsibility for the Track-Type Tractors Division in East Peoria. In 2006, Bob became Vice President of U.S. Operations Division, with responsibility for all manufacturing operations in Aurora, Illinois; Decatur, Illinois; and East Peoria, Illinois.
