Economic and Planning Studies at NIST
The Economic Analysis Office (EAO) is a unit of the NIST Associate Director for Innovation and Industry Services. EAO provides economic, technology assessment, and strategic planning expertise for NIST-wide policy analysis and planning activities. EAO conducts cross-cutting strategic planning, economic impact, and economic role/policy studies that benefit several operating units or NIST as a whole; provides methodological assistance to OUs conducting their own economic analysis; and represents NIST in external economic policy exercises where technology is a major factor.
The diagram below depicts EAO’s roles within NIST’s planning, performance evaluation, and policy support system. To view additional information about each of these areas, click on the corresponding circle.
