Rob Glenn serves as the Acting Chief Information Officer (CIO) for NIST. As Acting CIO, Mr. Glenn advises the NIST Director on the planning execution, evaluation, and delivery of information technology services and support. He is also responsible for planning and managing NIST's core information technology resources effectively, efficiently, and securely so that NIST can achieve its mission.
Mr. Glenn also continues to serve as the Office of Information Systems Management (OISM) Information Technology Security Division Chief and the NIST Information Technology Security Officer. In these roles, Mr. Glenn directs and leads NIST network and network security operations, and the NIST Information Technology Security Program, including incident response, policy and guidance management, training and awareness, and information system assessments and authorizations.
Mr. Glenn joined NIST in 1987 and spent 13 years in the NIST Information Technology Laboratory Advanced Network Technologies Division where he led and supported network and network security standards efforts. During this time he developed protocol prototypes and testing tools while working closely with other government agencies and industry supporting interoperability testing and co-authoring Internet standards. In addition, Mr. Glenn also provided systems and network administration support for the division.
Mr. Glenn holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Clarion University of Pennsylvania.
