Employment/Research Opportunities

NIST's Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL) was formed in 2014 to promote the development and deployment of advanced communications technologies through the conduct of leading edge R&D, engineering, and standardization efforts. In addition, CTL also supports the joint NIST/NTIA Center for Advanced Communications, created to address a broad array of measurement issues through stakeholder collaboration.

To achieve its mission, CTL anticipates hiring researchers to focus on a number of key technology areas, including

  • Public safety and first responder communications
  • Wireless communications
  • Communications theory
  • Channel and propagation modeling
  • Interference analysis and characterization
  • Modulation and coding
  • Transmitter and receiver characterization
  • Standards
  • Antenna characterization
  • Spectrum access technologies

We are seeking to fill both full-time term and permanent positions, with experience ranging from postdoctoral to senior researchers.

Positions are located at NIST's Boulder and Gaithersburg campuses and US citizenship is required.
