CSTL engages in a number of international activities to support trade and global science, and to promote the international acceptance of U.S. measurement standards.  Long-term involvement and collaborations with National Metrology Institutes around the world have become more formal in recent years with the signing of the European Union and United States Mutual Recognition Agreement and subsequent implementation arrangements with the International Committee of Weights and Measures. CSTL domestic and international standards efforts are critical to U.S. industry by assuring comparability of measurements across borders, thus facilitating fair trade and increasing our nation’s competitiveness in the global market place.
