Bookmark and Share Dr. Mary Satterfield

Dr. Mary Satterfield is the Scientific Advisor of the Biochemical Science Division. After completing a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, she was awarded a NRC postdoctoral fellowship at NIST in the Analytical Chemistry Division. For several years Dr. Satterfield worked on protein and small molecule reference methods and Standard Reference Materials before joining the Metrology for Gene Expression Team in the Biochemical Science Division. Before moving to her current position Dr. Satterfield was involved in the development of reference methods and materials for microarray scanner quality assurance. Dr. Satterfield has also developed and continues to lead the NIST Summer Institute for Middle School Science Teachers, a two-week long workshop designed to support middle school science teachers through a combination of hands-on activities, lectures, tours, and visits with scientists in their laboratories.
