The scientific expertise of Dr. Turko is in protein chemistry and biochemistry.  He has authored or co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications. His current research focused on the mass spectrometry-based quantitative techniques to assess age-related proteomic changes in brain and retina.  This includes:

(1) Multiple Reaction Monitoring Measurements for proteins involved in the generation, disposal, and function of oxysterols in the senescent retinal pigment epithelium.

(2) Hydrogen-Deuterium Exchange Mass Spectrometry for analysis of structural changes in cytochrome P450s during interactions with substrates, inhibitors, and protein partners.

(3) Quantitative protein profiling of age-related diseases of human brain and retina.
