Recruitment Announcement
POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR IN NANOTRIBOLOGY
The Electron Physics Group at the Center for Nanoscale Science and Technology (CNST) is seeking candidates for postdoctoral fellowships who are interested in pursuing research in nanotribology and nanomanufacturing. The goal of this research is to develop a detailed understanding of the origins of atomic scale frictional energy dissipation and to apply this knowledge toward the design of novel nanomanufacturing devices and systems. Projects will employ state-of-the-art atomic force microscopes (AFMs) and probe devices to measure nanoscale forces. Experience with ultra-high vacuum techniques, in situ surface preparation, low- or variable-temperature AFM or another scanning probe microscopy is strongly preferred. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or related field, or equivalent. For information, please contact the project leader, Rachel Cannara (rachel.cannara@nist.gov). The Department of Commerce is an Equal Opportunity Employer. US citizenship is required; however, opportunities for non-citizens exist through collaborative research programs between the CNST and a university, national laboratory, or corporation. Please contact the project leader for more information. |
