Title: Information management for Environmental Concerns
Published: February 08, 2008
Abstract: Around the world there is a growing awareness that the environmental impact from manufacturing needs to be minimized. Concerns about issues from toxic materials ending up in landfills to manufacturing process chelmicals causing health problems are causing governments to take action. The resulting regulations place restrictions on the manufacturing , use, and disposal of products. Many of these new restrictions are aimed at the electronics industry. Complying with these regulations requires the electronics industry to make numerous business changes; including changes to product design, modified manufacturing processes, and new material information. This paper discusses both the organizations working on implementing standards to support this new information and the standards themselves.
