2012 Baldrige Examiner Training Logistics

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency Requirement

To be a member of the Baldrige Program’s volunteer Board of Examiners, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States with your primary residence in the United States or its territories. If you did not serve on the board of examiners in 2011, you will be required to present valid proof of U.S. citizenship during the onsite training registration process. If you served on the board in 2011 you will not be required to present proof of U. S. citizenship again. The following documents can be used to verify United States citizenship or permanent residency:

• U.S. Passport

• Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county, or state

• Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth

• Naturalization Certificate

• Certificate of Citizenship

• Permanent Resident Card

(Dates will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.)

Training is being held at the NIST campus.

Accommodations

Blocks of rooms have been reserved for examiner training participants at the Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites. The hotel is within approximately a 5-10 minute drive to the NIST campus. Please see the “Directions from Area Airports to the Gaithersburg, Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites” page in the Examiner Training Logistics Information booklet to assist you with more detailed travel directions.

All Examiners are required to pay for their lodging expenses. Please call the hotel directly to make a reservation, make changes or cancel your reservation.

Senior Training and New Examiner Orientation Hotel Check-in
Please make reservations at the Homewood Suites for check-in Monday evening and checkout Friday morning.

Examiner Preparation (Wednesday to Friday) Hotel Check-in
Please make reservations for check-in Tuesday evening and checkout Friday morning. Do not make reservations for Monday night—as we have a limited number of rooms reserved on Monday for Senior and New Examiners.

If you call the Hilton to make reservations, inform the reservations clerk that you are attending Baldrige Examiner Training, and be prepared to provide the appropriate block code [see below] for your arrival and departure dates during training. The $167 rate at the Hilton Garden Inn and the $176 rate at the Homewood Suites is available on a first come first serve basis.

You must wait to receive an email from our office confirming your scheduled training week before making your hotel reservation.

All reservations must be made by midnight EDT on Friday, April 13, to get the training block rate.

It is advised that you book early, the special room rate will be available until April 13th or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.
