1. Original Work Orders
 
 

a. Send Form NIST-461, Interdivision Work Order (IDWO), in triplicate, to the Fabrication Technology Division. Indicate the fiscal year funding code in parentheses immediately following the cost center number. The "authorized charges" must be indicated or the "estimate requested" block must be checked. The specifications block should be used to provide instructions about the work to be performed, including references to drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
 
 

b. Each IDWO must have a division request number. No two IDWO's originating within a single division within a fiscal year should bear the same division request number except in the case of a change order. The IDWO must be signed by an "authorized" approving official in the requesting division.
 
 

c. An IDWO is charged against only one cost center within the same division.
 
 

2. Change Orders
 
 

An IDWO which alters an original IDWO is defined as a "change order." Confirm changes to original IDWOs by submitting a change order to the Fabrication Technology Division. The following special instructions are applicable to change orders:
 
 

a. Division Requisition Number - identical to the original IDWO.
 
 

b. Change Number - the number of previous change orders plus one.
 
 

c. Cost Center to be Charged - identical to the original IDWO. Block must contain a current-year cost center number. The cost center number must contain seven digits.
 
 

d. Authorized Charges - leave blank on change orders. This block is used only to record the amount of the authorization on the original IDWO.
 
 

e. Change in Authorized Charges - complete all three blocks. This block is used for change orders only. In the "Old Amount" block, enter the amount previously authorized. In the "- or +" block, indicate the decrease or increase. In the "New Amount" block, enter the new total amount authorized. The authorized charges should be shown in dollars only.
 
 

f. Specifications - identify the modification or addition to the work requested on the previous IDWO and reference sketches, drawings, or verbal instructions.
