SPECIAL ACT OR SERVICE AWARDS

 
PURPOSE:  To reward NIST employees.
ELIGIBILITY: Any NIST employee.  Individual or group awards are permitted.
CRITERIA: This award is for a contribution or accomplishment in the public interest that is:
NOMINATION/APPROVAL PROCEDURE:  A supervisor may nominate an employee or group of employees by completion of the Form NIST-012 (Recommendation for Special Act or Service Awards and NIST Awards) during the performance cycle but promptly after the time the contribution occurred.  Form NIST-012 must indicate the basis for the award, including the tangible and/or intangible benefits to the Government as defined in the following website: http://hr.commerce.gov/Practitioners/PerformanceManagementandAwards/DEV01_006331.  Approvals are in accordance with the delegations of authority in this subchapter.  The Senior Management Advisor of each OU must verify that bonus funds are available by signing the NIST-012.  The Human Resources Management Division receives the award, processes the necessary steps for payment, prepares the certificate of recognition, and distributes the final package to the appropriate OU indicating the payout date.
 
DUE DATE:  Anytime during the year except not effective during the first pay period of the fiscal year.
 
TYPE OF RECOGNITION:  Certificate only or with monetary award based on benefits to the government by application of benefits scales in following website:

PRESENTATION OF AWARD:  The recommending supervisor should present the award as soon as possible after receiving the notification prepared by the Human Resources Management Division.
